Cost Effective

Composite veneers involve no lab work so are more cost effective than porcelain veneers.

You have probably already heard about composite bonding or composite veneers. They are the latest innovation in Dentistry that means you can have a great new smile, without the expense of porcelain veneers and in most cases without the need for any drilling or injections.

The latest revolutionary composite materials together with artistic skill allow us to improve the colour, shape and position of your teeth to give you that perfect smile. It involves the use of highly aesthetic tooth coloured resin that is added to the teeth to hide any imperfections and change the shape/shade of your teeth.

Who can have composite bonding / veneers?

In most cases, composite bonding or veneers can be used to correct imperfections in your teeth, or change the colour, shape and position of your teeth to give you that perfect smile.

Composite can be used to correct teeth that may be twisted or too far back, or to make teeth longer or wider, to improve the overall appearance of your smile.

In some cases, teeth may be too far out of position meaning that it would be difficult to get a perfect result. Sometimes teeth can also be sticking too far forward, meaning the tooth would need to be reduced in size to make it look straight; this would defeat the purpose of minimal invasive composite veneers.

The good news is that with modern cosmetic braces, we can get your teeth into the correct position in as little as a few months, meaning you can achieve that perfect smile with minimal or no drilling of your teeth.

What is involved in composite bonding / veneers?

Before starting any treatment, we will invite you to have a consultation to discuss your goals and understand exactly what you are looking for.

We will then assess your smile, the health of your teeth and how they function together in order to create a new smile that not only looks great, but feels comfortable and is long lasting.

Following this assessment we can discuss if you are suitable for composite bonding / veneers, and recommend how to get the smile you really want.

We have found that most of our patients want to have a whiter smile. It is at this stage that we will arrange any tooth whitening prior to the placement of your composite bonding / veneers.

How long does composite bonding take?

Most cosmetic bonding can be done in just one appointment.

Following your assessment appointment, we will carry out all the planning necessary to help you achieve the beautiful smile you want.

At the treatment appointment, the aesthetic composite material will be skilfully applied to each individual tooth to create the perfect shape/size. The teeth will then be polished to give them a brilliant shine or smooth feel. Depending on your case, the shape of some of your other teeth may need to be adjusted to function correctly with the new composite restorations in order to make them long lasting.

As the composite veneers are hand made directly onto your tooth, this means that throughout your treatment you will be able to give input and make any subtle changes you like in order to create that perfect smile.

How long does composite bonding last?

Composite bonding / veneers generally last around 5-8 years. Properly cared for and maintained they can last for even longer.

This does not mean that at 8 years, your new smile is going to fall out! Over time the composites may stain, which can easily be re-polished or whitened.

You may also find that over time the composite may begin to weardown or chip. Due to the new material technology of composite, in most cases the wear or chip can be simply repaired without needing to replace the whole veneer. In comparison to porcelain veneers, composite is very easy to maintain.
